Portraits of Zara Toppin

I recently spent a day at Sunbury, a queer hair salon in East London, to make some portraits of owner Zara Toppin.
Zara was the first hairdresser I ever had who understood what I actually wanted from a haircut, and they’ve been sculpting it to perfection for over a decade. They’ve been based at Sunbury for around two years now: it’s a queer haven.
As they describe it: “a calm, considered and considerate space in which the client is fully heard. Queer-run and gender-free.”
